Attribution studies of observed land precipitation changes with nine coupled models

چکیده
[1] Global-land mean observations of 20th century precipitation are compared to modelled values using an optimal regression technique for nine general circulation models. The combined influence of major anthropogenic and natural forcings is detected in five cases. Comparing the accuracy of precipitation and temperature simulation of each model, we find that low temperature simulation accuracy produces low precipitation simulation accuracy, but temperature accuracy does not determine precipitation accuracy in general. Model formulation appears to be more important for accurate precipitation simulation than inclusion of a more complete set of forcings. The implications for possible constraints on land precipitation are discussed. Citation: Lambert, F. H., N. P. Gillett, D. A. Stone, and C. .Detection and Attribution of Changing in Seasonal variability cause of climate change (Case study: Hillsides of Central Southern Alborz Mountains) Abstract One of the most important challenges for the human communities is Global Warming. This vital problem affected by Climate Change and corresponding effects. Thus this article attempted to assess the trend of real climate variables from syno...
متن کاملIncreasing drought under global warming in observations and models
Historical records of precipitation, streamflow and drought indices all show increased aridity since 1950 over many land areas1,2. Analyses of model-simulated soil moisture3,4, drought indices1,5,6 and precipitation-minus-evaporation7 suggest increased risk of drought in the twenty-first century. There are, however, large differences in the observed and modelsimulated drying patterns1,2,6. Reco...
متن کاملDetection and attribution of anthropogenic forcing to diurnal temperature range changes from 1950 to 1999: comparing multi-model simulations with observations
Observations show that the surface diurnal temperature range (DTR) has decreased since 1950s over most global land areas due to a smaller warming in maximum temperatures (Tmax) than in minimum temperatures (Tmin). This paper analyzes the trends and variability in Tmax, Tmin, and DTR over land in observations and 48 simulations from 12 global coupled atmosphere-ocean general circulation models f...
متن کاملRobust spatially aggregated projections of climate extremes
Many climatic extremes are changing1–5, and decision-makers express a strong need for reliable information on further changes over the coming decades as a basis for adaptation strategies. Here, we demonstrate that for extremes stakeholders will have to deal with large irreducible uncertainties on local to regional scales as a result of internal variability, even if climate models improve rapidl...

Understanding the changes in extreme precipitation over a region is very important for adaptation strategies to climate change. One of the most important topics in this field is detection and attribution of climate change. Over the past two decades, there has been an increasing interest for scientists, engineers and policy makers to study about the effects of external forcing to the climatic va...
